S.o.P Creative Banana Contest update
Regular visitors to the SoP website or forum may have noticed that we are running a contest – send us a (non-pornographic!) photo documenting your best and most creative use of a banana, and you can win two tickets to the Mexico city show plus backstage passes.
I noticed that there were several disappointed reactions about air travel to the show not being included, and suggested we offer an alternative prize for people who can’t make it to the show). And so it is: you’ll get a t-shirt, a pinkie respect pen signed by all band members, picks from me and Arjen (I’ll save you the one I use to play the show), one of Davy’s drumsticks, and whatever other bodacious swag we can rustle up for you. And unless you tell us not to, we’ll sign anything that isn’t fast enough to run away from our pens. (Details on the SoP forum).
“But why BANANAS, of all things?” you may be wondering. If you’re not a regular on the SoP message board and don’t understand what all this banana stuff is about, here’s the deal (from one of my earlier tour diary entries):
If you are wondering “WTF is up with the whole banana thing?” here is the explanation: The dancing banana icon is very popular on the Ayreon and SoP forums, usually used as a symbol of glee, merriment or delight. When we see banana hats, inflatable bananas or any other banana item in the crowd, we know that there are friends from forums in the audience…At that moment we know we have a fun and friendly crowd to play for!

Rob: as far as I know, all that stuff is for one winner. Sorry about the timeframe, but you can be sure that we have learned something from this contest that we will use if there are future contests.
Juan: As far as I know, there are no plans to sell signed pinkie respect pens. So the prize-winning pen is special. But because we like to accommodate people, I can’t promise 100% exclusivity (like, if someone buys a pen and wants to send it to us to sign — we can’t say “no” to requests like that; it would be mean and horrible).

I’m kinda struggling with some very difficult circumstances at the moment — some days ago, I heard the sad news that one of my female friends had passed away. So I’m definitely not in the mood for joining this interesting contest, even if I’d really like to…

Well I heard about it before leaving.. went to larp.. had a LOT of really weird and silly and whatever ideas with bananas and lost my carkeys somehow when unpacking my girlfriend’s stuff from the car at her place (and search and searched but didnt find (yet)) luckily there was still a spare car key at home which we could use) but im still planning to execute some of those ideas before tomorrow
@Rob: Man, that’s some bad news and I can understand not entering a contest like this after that. My sympathies to you.
