Find the pinkie…and settle a question

There is much disagreement in Lorinator Manor this evening. Maybe you can help: is the pinkie on the left or the right in the illustration below?

I would say the Pinkie is on the left, because the thumb is on the right (and keeps the two middle-fingers down) and you see the inner side of the hand. But I must admit that it is not a clear ‘picture’.

Ciao for now,
Robbo

The make it a bit more clear: normally there are no other fingers between the pinkie itself and the palm of your hand — so you can move your finger (one of your other hand) from the top of the pinkie smoothly towards your arm… This doesn’t work for the index finger.

Everybody agreed? Whaha… this is funny :-)

Rob I totally agree, Lori, where do you get this from?
hahahhah, funny indeed.

I think I’d go with Rob’s first suggestion. Going through a number of tests – hand this way, hand that way – I’d have to conclude that indeed we are looking into the inside of a right hand. The main problem though seem to be accurately reproducing the length ratio of the individual fingers… but never mind. Only hope that different interpretation won’t cause further disagreement.

Pinkie’s on the right! My guess it’s a left hand. (It’s a hand right?)

Hey there Rob! Nice to read you again!

I go with pinkie on the right also as I’m guessing we’re looking into the inside of a left hand.

Pinky -> Left

Thanks for all your comments and most excellent explanations!

Seems that there are different interpretations here: some see pinkie/left, some pinkie/right. I suppose that the only safe conclusion I can draw is that it’s up to viewers to interpret the image as they like. For the record, I see a right hand, palm towards me, pinkie on the left, with the thumb on the right, partially covering the bent index and ring fingers.

Was I the only crazy one looking at his own hand for reference at least 10 time?

Hi Juan. I did so as well: both hands, both sides — and for several times ;-)

…I don’t talk only nonsense in here…
