Eminor sweeping arpeggio (like the world needs another one of these, but WTF…)

Hey m’little Chickadees!

Here’s another quick’n'dirty sweeping arpeggio video for ya. E-minor sweeps have of course been done to death by guitar players since Yngwie made them compulsory for everyone in the early 80s. But even so, this one might be a good starter arpeggio for those of you who are still relatively new to sweep technique. It will at least get your fingers moving up and down the neck, rather than just sticking to one position. And what the heck, it will give all the knee-jerk contrarians and lowest-common-denominator, auto-fellating flamethrowers on guitar forums something new to bash me for…
…always happy to put my neck on the chopping block (so you won’t have to) :p

You can download the WMV or the MOV (about 1 mb each). Please don’t hotlink to the video files; it’s better if you just send people to this page (the URL is in the hot pink post title above).

Behold the awesome wonder of my TAB

[Or live large and download my even more stupendous powertab file.]

Argh, the week-end has just begun and my ego’s just taken its first dent. Well, not a dent, actually. More of like a crater the size of the one that was left by the meteor that has been rumoured to have made the dinosaurs go extinct.

And what’s more: you tabbed! You go girl!

Yep, I was actually more surprised to see the tab at the end! And thanks one more time for the video. Hope there’re more on the way :)

By the way, how’s the [email protected] site going? Any news on that?

And how come you still don’t consider yourself a shredder? :(

you just look like you are having such a blast when you are playing that, like the one thing you were made for and the one thing you love the most is playing guitar, and that’s really inspiring. :)

i wish i had a guitar with my so i could give it a try. too bad my guitars are in arizona and i am in texas. what a tragedy.

And by the way, no real musician can criticize you ! Keep on rockin girl !

Laurie: Whoa, it took me ages to figure out what a BT was (backing track, duh!). If I ever get to the point where my improvising isn’t boring and “widdly,” I might think about it…

Kristof: Yeah, I re-installed Powertab just for PLAG readers. I *can* actually tab simple stuff like this; I just *hate* doing it. Oh, you want ego issues, just check out Bob Zabek — make sure to watch the WHOLE THING.

Juan: Yup, more vids comin’ soon. I doubt I’ll do a B @ G, BetterAtYouKnowWhat keeps me on my toes as it is, and I haven’t even launched its “evil twin” yet…
Anyway, I don’t consider myself a shredder because I don’t play fast, and I don’t play to impress other guitar players (nor would I ever try), and most of the music in the whole widdly-widdly instrumental shred genre is totally uninteresting to me. That pretty much sums it up!

Sierra: Thanks! But I fooled you — what I really enjoy is hammin’ it up for the camera… ;-)

Joe: Don’t worry, I’ll post more gabby ones too — if only to irritate those who don’t like it ;-) . I wanted to post a few shorties too, just for people on dialup. As for those forum trolls, pfffft. No matter WHAT you do, some self-important jerk is gonna bash it. Makes them feel better about their miserable little lives and the fact even randy sheep reject their amorous advances.

Sylvain: Thanks! BTW, I welcome criticism when it’s (a) constructive, and (b) coming from someone I trust and respect. A prerequisite for (b) is, of course, that I actually know the critic’s real identity. That disqualifies 99.99999% of the people who get off on bashing people on the net.

Carvalho: Thanks! The next one will be a bit longer :)

wow, that Bob Zabek video… geez. i don’t even know what to say to that except for … nnnnnnghaaaaah.

i figured your love for showing off for the camera (and any girl’s love for a camera, for that matter) was just a given. hehehe

It wasn’t bad enough that my ego was flattened by your video Lori, that I had to go and watch the Bob Zabek one too…. Im thinking about taking up bongos…. no real virtuoso players there… so no ego to be crushed!

Btw, if you display the tab in courier font, it’ll line up better. A little computer geek tip.

Watched the video, didn’t especially love it. I wasn’t really impressed either. Sure, I’d give my left arm to be have his speed and dexterity (there’s a joke in there, somewhere but I can’t find it) but I think it’s very uninspired. There’s no melody in there. All the things he plays are great, the right scale and everything … but I miss the melody. Which is the reason why I prefer a “terrible” guitar player such as Eddy Ojeda, because he has a melody.

But that guy is a very good guitar player and he’s certainly got a mutant pinky!
