Embrace your inner whiner

Found this video on Seth Godin’s Blog. It’s both funny and sad at the same time.

Line that got to me: “My dreams are boring.”

And it taught me this: if I ever get the opportunity to visit Finland, brushing up on Finnish sauna etiquette would be a really good idea.

This is really great and original! I like the way of performance. Like you said, it’s funny and sad at the same time. (and it sounds so funny in Finnish)

Haha, have you never been in a sauna? I haven’t, but I thought that’s something typical Nordic…

Thanks for sharing and bringing a smile on my face,
Robbo

True…
Either you work, or you make money ! ;-)

And maybe “Boring dreams” are those not coming from our heart, but coming from others (parents, friends, tv, fashions…) ?

The cord on the vacuum not only is too short, but the next outlet is always behind a piece of furniture. I do disagree with the newspaper being too thick. I can’t start my day without reading it almost cover to cover. Great video. Oh, and when someone does gives me a reference number, why do I never have a pen handy?

It felt good to see someone sing these problems :) I sing in a choir too, maybe we should make the hungarian version of this ;)

Nice performance, with, unfortunately, very recognisable topics. :|
It makes you put things in perspective and hopefully realise that it isn’t al that bad. :-)

… But than again, where would humanity be if there was absolutely nothing to complain about?

@ Sylvian: Wise words on the boring dreams.

Panic! The file has been removed. I haven’t seen it. I feel like I’m missing out on the next big thing! I repeat: panic!

I watched all the way to the end of the Helsinki version, waiting for something funny to come along. I skipped the Birmingham version after 1:06 … My complaint:

Why can’t these people sing :( I think I’m missing a very vital point here. I’ve read Seth’s entry on this, but I still wonder why a conductor would conduct to a choir that’s so utterly uninspired and tonedeaf :(

Ah well, I guess not all movies on the internet are supposed to be funny and maybe I’m not as arty as I’d like to be.

Oh yes, why is the driver in front of me always the one that needs make-up, reads the paper or forget which pedal was the accelerator?

Haha, it’s probably the same driver who doesn’t use the traffic indicator, who doesn’t drive when the traffic lights turn green and the ones who always complain about the drivingcapabilities of others…

Ofcourse, nobody is perfect, but try to do your very best is a Big first step in the right direction.

I also like the Helsinki one over the Birmigham one, but that’s probably because of the language — even though I don’t understand the nordic languages, I love ‘em.

Even though finnish is nothing like swedish or norwegian Rob?

I love the Helsinki one most too.. the complaints are funnier

When I’m in the car and the person ahead of me won’t drive when the light turns green, I always mutter “It’s not gonna get any greener, you know” …

Humor is individual, Kristof. Sorry it didn’t work for you.

Thanks for pointing out the probs with the link, Taz. I’ve changed it to the link recommended by Rob, and it’s working fine now.

I finally grasped how it’s okay to whine. Of course, women have known this for millenia :)

Now I’m just being silly …

Np, Kristof! One’s inner whiner should be nurtured; it’s only when you sense it’s becoming a knee-jerk contrarian that you’re in trouble.

Gwen, one of my favorite quotes is from Lily Tomlin:

Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain.

Of course, by “man” she probably meant “humans,” but WTF, that’s just details! ;-)

Ah no, I’m sorry — I was kidding you.

But I’m not someone who says that men are better car-drivers or so. Like many other things, it’s just nonsense.
And Both sexes complain about things, only the subjects may differ.

=) My girlfriend complains when I whine, but refuses to acknowledge her own significant whinefests. I think that goes in most cases =P. Wow, Lori, it’s so nice to see a woman with as much talent with a guitar as you! So strange to see from here in Texas. I always wanted a daughter so I could teach her to play metal! And now I have you and Arjen to assist me =).
